Work Across the County
Three completed San Diego County projects — a whole-home ranch renovation in Del Cerro, a coastal residence in Pacific Beach and a separately metered two-unit infill in Golden Hill.
Whole-home ranch renovation
- Property type
- 1960s single-story ranch on a canyon lot
- Electrical challenge
- Original branch wiring and undersized distribution throughout
- Scope of work
- Panel replacement, complete rewire, recessed LED on dimmers, kitchen appliance circuits, fan-rated boxes, deck lighting, smoke and CO coverage
- Result
- Labeled panel, tested circuits, passed final inspection
Coastal residence, full electrical
- Property type
- Single-family coastal residence, vaulted living spaces
- Electrical challenge
- Salt air — standard exterior devices and enclosures would not last
- Scope of work
- Complete wiring from service through trim, recessed and pendant layout, full kitchen circuits, mini-split feeds, corrosion-rated exterior devices
- Result
- Passed final; exterior hardware specified for the marine environment
Two-unit infill, separately metered
- Property type
- Two-unit modern infill on a single urban lot
- Electrical challenge
- Two metered services and two inspection scopes on one schedule
- Scope of work
- Separate metering and panels per unit, parallel rough-in, recessed and linear lighting, kitchen and laundry circuits, device layout around full-height glazing
- Result
- Both units trimmed and passed on the same inspection cycle

Existing-Property Questions
Questions that come up specifically on San Diego work.
+Can you provide electrical work for an ADU?
Yes — service capacity assessment, feeder and subpanel, full unit electrical, and tie-back to the existing service. Metering and permitting requirements vary by jurisdiction and get confirmed for your specific address.
+How do I know whether my existing panel can support an addition?
A load calculation on the existing service plus the new load answers it. JIC checks the panel, the service size and the actual conductors before telling you whether an upgrade is needed.
+Do you work on multifamily properties?
Yes — unit electrical, turnover and renovation work, common-area lighting, house panels and circuits, and troubleshooting across units.
+Can you upgrade electrical during an older-home remodel?
Yes, and it is usually the right time. Existing circuits get traced, problems found behind the walls get documented, and code-required updates are handled with the remodel scope.
+Do you handle commercial tenant improvements?
Yes — lighting, equipment circuits, panel and service work, and buildout electrical for retail, restaurant, office and light industrial spaces.
+Why is North County on a separate page?
Different work. North County is largely full-service homeowner and new-construction work from home base in Valley Center; this page is about modernizing existing and denser properties.
Request Service or a Project Estimate
A tripping breaker, a rental unit turnover, a remodel, or an ADU in design — tell JIC which one and the rest of the conversation gets shorter.
